i forgot to mention
that mary catherine took one step on her own on christmas eve and started walking on her own today, christmas day! we're all amazed!!
oh wait there's more..
merry christmas to everyone - hope all are well and enjoying this special day. my family and i are having an incredible day. i won't do a laundry list of 'what i got' but suffice it to say that i am, indeed as mentioned before, a dot com - but what i didn't know is that i'm also a dot co dot uk! www.elizabethdunne.com & www.elizabethdunne.co.uk ! i'm stoked.
andrew also got us a family membership to the national trust and i'm thrilled. this means that he's also willing to go on adventures with me to all the national trust properties. this will make for excellent weekend adventures over the coming year.
okay - enough babbling. merry christmas to all and to all a good night!
she's not really the devil..
we had these pictures taken of mc a few days ago... ever seen a more devilish looking angel? :) she uh... wee'd while this picture was taken. it was funny.
happy christmas eve!
i'm a dot com cowgirl!
last night i was just bumming around on the net and bouncing around.. you know, as you do. and i happened to check out www.elizabethdunne.com -- and when i entered that url, my site shone back at me! i'm a dot com!! i found my christmas present early.
i love it - my little geeky heart goes thud at the thought of it. so please update your links.. the cheese is now located at www.elizabethdunne.com!!
well - we're here! the flight was long as we had to hold mc for the entire time. they screwed up our bassinette seat - ie - we didn't have one. i'll write more later. just sitting here with my family, loving every minute of it.
got my 'wig in a box' cd - and it's so excellent. if you've never seen hedwig and the angry inch.. well, you should. plain and simple. it's really freaking cool.
fickle fickle pickle
i couldn't take the chill of the arctic layout - so here's the final holiday one. more importantly, we leave tomorrow for home! i'm so excited! not that excited to fly 9 hours with a 1 year old, mind you. actually dreading that part. if you hear screaming in the skies - you know we're overhead. i love the looks that people give you when you get on a plane with a child. you know - we've all given them before - the 'please don't be sitting near me' look? lemme tell you when the shoe's on the other foot you get a bit defensive about it. i always feel like saying to people that if i had my choice - i wouldn't force my child to sit still for 9 hours in a space not even big enough for her, mind you 300 adults.
see - i'm bunging up about it already. packing list.. headphones for daddy.. toys for baby and xanax for mummy. yes - that's just the ticket.
today's fun distraction: adrian la fond seriously worth a click.. i like the bug shop and hungry pet. fun!
two days until we jet to the states for an excellent holiday ... i'm glad that i'm so busy because otherwise the time would just drag. we went to leed's castle with our friends yesterday - madame o and miss mc were hefted about by loving fathers with strong backs! i'll write more in a bit - today is just crazy.
i've given up thinking about getting my christmas cards out - so i did an html version. nerdy, i know. click here for an online version.
i have arrived..
today while at evil, addictive coffee empire [starbucks] my favourite barrista not only gifted me with 6 chocolate coins but mentioned that i'm going to be added to their star customer board in january! see what giving a multi-billion company £3.70 for a cup of joe and a muffin every day will get you? fame! at last!
remember when i said i knew what i wanted for christmas... either of these will do.

home for the holidays one week from today...
good morning.. there are wispy pink clouds in the sky this morning - maybe we'll see some blue sky later on. i miss the sun. at least the solstice will be soon and then the sun will begin to make its way back to our frozen little part of the earth. i can see the 'spring' layout for this blog already filled with gooey yellows and spring chickens running everywhere. kind of thaws my heart a little bit just thinking of the pastel hues of easter and what sort of easter dress i'll find for mary catherine this year. but i digress - we have christmas, new year's and valentine's day to get through first.
so - what do you want for christmas? i'm the type of person who never tells what they want. at this time of year anyway, all other times - birthday excluded - i ramble on about what i'd like to buy.. but ask me in the month of december and i'll look at you innocently and say, 'oh i don't know'.. or 'world peace' (yeah, fat chance of getting that this christmasm huh?). all the while i'm thinking of all the glorious things i'd like to find beautifully wrapped on christmas morning.
i'm not sure why i'm like that. i enjoy a present so much more if i know someone's put some thought into it. aren't i silly - i feel like if i tell people what i want then i might as well go and buy it myself. now, i'm not saying that gift certificates aren't one of life's great things, but you know. i feel selfish just mentioning that i might want something for christmas. weird.
it's dawned on me that i've not put any mc pictures up for a while.. the blog looks cold enough as it is. here are a few to begin your thaw a few months early. they're from her birthday... mm birthday pumpkin pie - i guess that's the price you pay when your birthday falls on thanksgiving!
i'm sorry - but i couldn't cope with the blue christmas theme any longer. couldn't even make it to christmas - how fickle i am. anyway - brrr... welcome to the arctic layout!
ah - friday.. i start getting excited about fridays on wednesday. sad, huh?
so i've been neglecting the old blogarooni this week - my apologies for that. i was telling myself that i needed to log on and post today to make up for it. i'd even given great thought to what exactly i was going to write about - i was on the bus and kind of in an on the bus, early morning haze. so, i can't remember what excellent thing i'd decided to write about. go figure. i'm really glad i opened my eyes when i did because i almost missed my stop. lovely.
london is in full swing for christmas .. the twinkly lights are all aglow on regent and oxford streets. every retail outlet's been dressed up in christmas finest since october. i do find it very interesting here that, unlike america, there seems to be no need to change 'merry christmas' to 'happy holidays' so as not to offend non-christians. and the great thing is that you see lots of eid light displays as well as christmas ones. i've never heard anyone mention kwanza here, for what it's worth. i love this country and how very little racism i see. i mean, i'm sure it's there - but it's not as obvious and in your face as it is in georgia, where i'm from.
here people with brown skin are just called black, not anglo-african (remember the american politico who referred to nelson mandela as an african american? how horrible is that!?) and it just feels nicer here. so two points for the uk. i kind of dread going back to america and the rampant racism. it really bothers me. REALLY bothers me. the reverse discrimination pisses me off as well, for what it's worth. why a group of black teens can harrass a white person and no one blinks an eye whereas if the tables were turned it'd be an outrage ... well - i find it disgusting.
anyway - not a very cheery topic, eh? how i got to that from going on about festive christmas lights - i'll never know. my brain works in mysterious ways. mc had her MMR today...
today's mutterings.. you play too!
- Scrooge::McDuck

- Combo::meal (!!)
- Booty::licious (eew!)
- Skin::tag (double eeew!)
man - what is wrong with me today? i'm thinking about beyonce and skin tags? gross. i'm currently trying to keep my mind on things and not let it wander to our upcoming trip to the states. i absolutely can't wait to be home with my family. guess it's the burden of expatriate living. so if i blog now - i'll just go on and on about all the things i can't wait for .. and i don't really have the time. hmm.. must find something else to write about. something weird. gimme a few... have a look at this in the meantime.
tuesday..
sorry no post yesterday - catching up from last week took all my time yesterday. anyway - thanksgiving dinner was lovely. adrienne and i tried to make the girls traditional thanksgiving arts and crafts projects. so we did handprint turkeys and made indian headdresses because we couldn't be bothered to make pilgrim hats! trouble was - the only paper i could find was neon coloured.. so instead of thankful, kind, giving indians they both look like vegas showgirls! lots of fun was had by all. see?
